Description

These Healthy Air Fryer French Toast Sticks are so quick and easy to make even on your busy mornings.  Or, I love to make a bunch, freeze, and just reheat to make mornings even easier!  No Air Fryer?  I have oven instructions for you, too!

Ingredients

2 slices of gluten-free, whole grain, or sprouted grain bread…find something that is hearty and not too soft.  

1 egg

3T unsweetened vanilla almond milk or whatever milk you have

2tsp maple syrup, plus more for dipping

1/2 tsp cinnamon or more (my daughter likes a lot)

½ tsp pure vanilla extract 

cooking oil spray (I used coconut oil spray)

parchment paper – this is a must!!


Instructions

Air Fryer

Line bottom of air fryer basket with parchment paper – this is super important, as it prevents sticking. 

Next, slice your bread into 4 equal sticks.  Mix egg, milk, maple syrup, vanilla and cinnamon together.  Dip bread into egg mixture and coat well, but shake off the excess egg. 

Place sticks on parchment and spray with cooking oil spray.  Don’t overcrowd them – you may need to do two batches if your Air Fryer is really small.

Set to 360 and cook for ten minutes, flipping halfway and removing the parchment paper for the second half of cooking. You may need a little more or a little less time depending on your desired crispiness.  We liked ours very crispy!

Oven

Preheat oven to 350.

Next, slice your bread into 4 equal sticks.  Mix egg, milk, maple syrup, vanilla and cinnamon together.  Dip bread into egg mixture and coat well, but shake off the excess egg. 

Place sticks on baking sheet lined with parchment and spray with cooking oil spray.  Bake for 16-18 minutes, flipping halfway through. 


Notes

21 Day Fix Containers – 1 yellow, and 1 sweetener tsp per serving (sweetener teaspoons are different than oil teaspoons.  You can have up to 4 a day on the fix.)
