These Garlic Butter Steak Bites are tender, juicy, and tossed in the most irresistible garlicky butter sauce. With just a few simple ingredients and a hot skillet, you can make a restaurant worthy recipe at home in under 20 minutes!

As it turns out, my children seem to have inherited my husband’s love of meat and potatoes. This is especially true for my teen daughter, who would eat some version of red meat and mashed potatoes every night of the week (like this Instant Pot Meatloaf Recipe or this Healthy Shepherd’s Pie). And since she is an athlete who participates in multiple sports, I am often packing her a quick dinner to eat in the car between practices. Let me tell you, it’s not exactly easy to pack a steak for the road.
My solution? These garlic butter steak bites! This dinner is not only delicious, it’s also an easy protein for an on-the-go girl like herself. I have made these tasty bites so many times over the past few months, and I am excited to finally share the recipe with you! You know I love a quick and easy meal that actually tastes good, and this one really hits.

Why You’ll Make Them Again and Again
- It may taste restaurant-worthy, but it’s a very simple recipe (like stupid easy) and your family will think you slaved. Go with it.
- Ready in under 20 minutes, and, bonus, steak bites can be packed for a dinner or lunch on the go (ask me how many times I have served garlic steak bites in a thermos).
- Works with a variety of steak cuts, so you can use whatcha have: ribeye, strip steaks, sirloin, or filet all work well, with filet and NT strip being my faves.
- It’s the ultimate easy protein that works with any of your family’s favorite side dishes – we love it with potatoes, green beans, or even rice.
- These can work as an appetizer, a main course, for a holiday, or as part of your game day spread.

Ingredients
The best part of this recipe is how few ingredients you actually need to make a drool worthy dinner. You need:
- 2 pounds steak (New York strip steak, filet mignon, or ribeye), cut into 1-inch cubes
- kosher salt
- black pepper (optional)
- avocado oil or olive oil
- butter
- fresh garlic (fresh garlic is best, but you can sub garlic powder in an emergency)
- chopped fresh parsley (optional, but it really takes it up a notch)
Step by Step Instructions
Step one: Pat the steak cubes dry with a paper towel, then season with salt and pepper.
Step two: Heat a large cast-iron skillet or non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Add oil, then add the steak bites in a single layer. Sear for 2-3 minutes on each side, until browned.
Step three: Remove steak from pan. Reduce the heat to low, then add the butter and garlic to the skillet. Sauté for 1 minute, being careful not to let the garlic burn.
Step four: Add the steak bites back to the pan and stir with the garlic butter sauce to coat. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the chopped parsley for garnish, if using.
Tips for the Best Juicy Steak Bites
- Bring the steak to room temperature before cooking, and do not skip the step where you dry the pieces well before cooking. This will make sure you get the crispy finish we are looking for here.
- Use a hot skillet – high temperatures are the secret to a good sear and that nice crust on your cooked steak. Make sure that oil is hot before you add the cubed steak.
- Don’t overcrowd the pan. Work in batches if needed, so every piece of steak gets browned.
- If you are making this for company, fresh herbs really takes it over the top. I love using parsley, but green onions would also be yum).
Meal Prep and Storage
- I like to save time by cutting my steak into bite-sized pieces on my prep day, as well as mince the garlic. I keep both in an airtight container in the refrigerator until I am ready to cook. Not only does this help dinner get on the table quicker, it keeps my kitchen clean.
- Store any leftover steak bites in an airtight container in the fridge — they reheat beautifully in the air fryer or stovetop for quick lunches or easy meals the next day.
