Confession #61 – I’m still not over Oprah leaving her show. Or the disappointment of the Oprah Winfrey Network.
Anyone else?
During the holidays, I really miss the Oprah’s Favorite Things episode. Apparently her lists still exist on Oprah.com, but it’s just not the same as the live show, with grown men and women dressed like Elves and handing out keys to free cars and such. #memories #lifebeforehashtags
And, so, here is my tribute to Oprah’s favorite things…my own list of kitchen essentials and gifts for the Fit Foodie in your life. These are things I couldn’t live without in my own kitchen, plus a couple wish list items of my own. For my regular readers, you will recognize a lot of these tools from the blog! And although I’m not dressing up like an Elf, feel free to read this in your best Oprah voice! I mean – can you imagine???
My Favorite Fit Foodie Things – 2015
Veggetti Spiral Vegetable Slicer
You know how much I love my zoodles. This easy to use Veggetti spiralizer is great for you veggie noodle newbies. If you become as obsessed as I am, you might want to upgrade to the Paderno.
Paderno World Cuisine Spiralizer Pro, 4-Blade
The Paderno is my new favorite kitchen tool! While the Veggetti is great for beginners, the Paderno is perfect for the veggie noodle obsessed. You can make noodles with just about anything – potatoes, butternut squash – and with total ease.
Cuisinart 9-Cup Food Processor
This next gift is a bit of a splurge, but I could not live in my kitchen without it. From making hummus, to sauces, to cookies, my Cuisinart Food Processor is a BEAST and worth every penny.
Evo Oil and Cooking Oil Trigger Sprayer Bottle, Set of 2
I’m in LOVE with my Evo Sprayer – a gift from my mother-in-law. It sprays perfectly for portion control, but uses no harmful propellants or chemicals.
Flavored Olive Oil and Balsamic from The Bodacious Olive
These flavored oils have made such a difference in my cooking – I especially love the Tuscan Herb and will be asking Santa for another bottle this holiday!
Hamilton Beach Programmable Slow Cooker, 7-Quart, Silver
You know how much I love my Crock Pot. I actually own THREE. But this one is my FAV! Why? 1. It’s programmable! For all you working mommas, you can set the timer on your dinner. No more overcooked chicken! 2. It’s seriously enormous, so you can cook a whole chicken or roast easily or double your favorite recipe. Yay!
Microplane Black Zester/Grater
This Microplane Zester would make an awesome stocking stuffer! I am constantly using fresh lime and lemon zest in my cooking – such an easy way to add flavor in a healthy way.
Gluten-free, chemical-free, filler-free and low salt seasonings. These are at the TOP of my own wish list. Hoping to find some in my stocking this year!
Ninja Mega Kitchen System (BL771)
And, finally, the big-ticket item from my wish list…this #badass Ninja for my Shakeology. I have heard nothing but wonderful things from my team and challengers. I have a great blender, so this is definitely not something I need…but I really, really want it. If you see my Santa, can you give him a hint?
What’s on your list this year?
Happy shopping!
