Still on the fence about an Instant Pot? Here are 5 Reasons Why You Need one! This post contains affiliate links to products I’m obsessed with. Well, one. Can you guess which?
I’m celebrating my one year anniversary as an Instant Pot user and I never in a million years thought a Black Friday purchase would be so life changing for me (click here to see a video of my first time using my IP!). I use it all the freaking time and I guess I’ve talked about it so much, I get questions from readers AND friends and family on the daily basis about it. If you read my blog a lot, I honestly don’t do a lot of sponsored posts, reviews, or use a lot of affiliate links. But when there is something that I love THIS much…and something that I think could help SO many of you, well, I feel the need to spread the word.
So if you are still on the fence about getting an Instant Pot this year, and wondering if you should take advantage of all the Black Friday sales, here are my top reasons why you should just go for it!
1. The (super amazing) Saute function:
Seriously, people. This is my FAVORITE part of having an Instant Pot. While I always loved my Slow Cooker, I always got a little stabby when the recipe called for first sauteing veggies and meat of some kind on the stove and THEN moving it to the Crock Pot. This means more dirty dishes, more time and the whole point of the Slow Cooker is to make life easier.
But now with my Instant Pot, I can first set it to saute and sear my meats, saute my veggies and cook my ground meats in the VERY SAME POT that I am going to cook my meal in. Makes meals like this Balsamic Pork Tenderloin or Buffalo Chicken Chili super quick and easy!
Oh – and thickening a sauce at the end of a meal to make a gravy like in my Chicken Marsala has never been easier!
I told you. Life. Changing.
2. You can cook from frozen:
Yes. You read that right. Gone are the days of dinner being ruined because somebody (we won’t name names) forgot to take the meat out of the freezer.
Yup. That somebody has been me too many times to count.
But the Instant Pot has changed all that. Chicken frozen? No big deal. Just pop it in the IP and let the magic machine go to work. Yes, it will take longer to come to pressure, but it will keep you out of the drive through line. Money and calories saved – YAY!
And this makes bootcamp freezer prep like this even more awesome as you can grab a meal from your freezer and have it ready to go in just a few!
3. Pulled Pork in a little over an hour.
And not just Pulled Pork. Roasts of all kind done in a fraction of the time it would take you in a Crock Pot. I used to start my Pulled Pork the night before in order for it t be ready in time. Nope. Not any more!
4. Food prep
Making hard boiled eggs would never sell me on a kitchen appliance, but I am not kidding when I say for the first time in my life I can prep eggs and the shell slides off. It takes only minutes and they come out perfect every time! Check out this tutorial to see just how easy it is.
And along those lines, rice and quinoa come out perfect and I love batch cooking them in the IP and freezing for use later!
5. Cooking mains and sides at one time.
Because the inner lining of an Instant Pot is taller than your Crock Pot, you can stack and layer your whole meal and cook at one time! I love making a pork roast or this Meatloaf dinner with mashed potatoes and carrots all at the same time. FOR real. And mashed potatoes alone is worth it. The Instant Pot is the perfect temperature to mash your potatoes and, again, less dishes to wash! Can you tell I hate washing dishes?
Oh – and I love making Spaghetti Squash while my sauce is cooking like in this Bolognese Sauce. So damn good.
Anyway, if you are thinking about an Instant Pot, I hope this helped you decide! I stalled for so long because I was convinced I didn’t need one, but I am so glad I finally made the move.
